Electrical registration and certificates explained
Check competence and the documents for your specific work.
Avoid choosing on logos alone
NICEIC and NAPIT are examples of electrical registration bodies. Verify the business and the scope of its registration using the current official register; do not rely on an old badge.
Ask what the work requires
The rules and notification routes depend on the work and UK nation. Ask which testing, certification and building-control steps apply and who is responsible for each.
Record the handover
Agree the electrical certificates and any separate compliance documents you will receive. Keep these with the quotation, invoices and warranties. Scheme membership does not guarantee that every aspect of a job will be dispute-free.
